Sundance!

Administrator, Jan 04, 2013

At Wildfire Studios January means Sundance and 2013 is no exception.  We are excited and proud to be providing post-production sound for 6 films premiering at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.  Here is a preview of these not-to-be-missed films!

For The Spectacular Now director James Ponsoldt has once again teamed up with Wildfire supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer Ryan Collins, who edited and mixed the sound for Ponsoldt's 2012 Sundance hit Smashed.  Starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley this coming of age drama premieres January 18 in Park City.

Afternoon Delight is Jill Soloway's narrative feature directorial debut and the recipient of the Wildfire Studios / Film Independent Sound Grant.  Supervising Sound Editor, Eric Offin, and Re-recording mixer, Leslie Shatz, are providing the soundtrack for the hilarious and moving film, starring Kathryn Hahn, Juno Temple and Josh Radnor.  It premieres January 21.

C.O.G. is director Kyle Patrick Alvarez's second film and is based on the essay by David Sedaris.  Starring Jonathan Groff, this coming of age story is full of wit and sadness.  Supervising Sound Editors, Martyn Zub and Paul Carden, have paired up on this film, collaborating with Kyle to create a rich, naturalistic soundtrack for the film.  It opens January 20.

Lovelace is Rob Epstein's and Jeffrey Friedman's fictionalized look at the story of famed porn actress, Linda Lovelace, starring Amanda Seyfried as the title character.  Eric Offin provided sound supervision for this film and Chris David acted as re-recording mixer.  Epstein and Friedman have won numerous awards for their work in documentary film and opened the 2010 Sundance Film Festival with HOWL, their film about Allen Ginsberg, starring James Franco.  Lovelace premieres January 22 in Park City.

In the documentary category we are excited to be working on 2 very different films.  Evan Jackson Leong's film, Linsanity, documents the rise of backup point guard Jeremy Lin and the 2012 season of the New York Nicks.  It premieres January 20. Narco Cultura  looks at the devistaton brought on by Mexico's drug war and the pop culture phenomena that has grown out of it.  It screens January 21.

Make sure to check out these great films and support these amazing independent filmmakers.

Una Noche at Tribeca Film Festival

Administrator, Apr 27, 2012

Congratulations to Dariel Arrechada and Javier Núñez Florián, awarded Best Actor in a Narrative Feature at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, as Raul and Elio in Una Noche, directed by Lucy Mulloy.

Jury Comments: "We give the award for Best Actor in a Narrative Feature to Dariel Arrechada and to Javier Nunez Florian in Una Noche, for potent individual performances that together are even greater than the sum of their parts.  Playing Raul and Elio, young Cuban men who goad each other on in a dream of fleeing Havana for a fantasy of Miami, Dariel locates Raul's danger and sexual power as precisely as Javier taps into Elio's essential sweetness.  Both young actors are nonprofessionals who took great risks to tell a daring story.  Each won our hearts."

Wildfire is honored to have mixed this incredible film on our Los Angeles stage.
